Meanwhile, brutal and monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. Will Celaena find the strength to not only fight her inner demons, but to take on the evil that is about to be unleashed? (Summary from Goodreads)

She was the heir of ash and fire, and she would bow to no one.”

Review/Thoughts

Wow. I adored this book, it was amazing. It has to be in the top 5 best books I’ve ever read.

We see Celaena broken and empty and truly get to know her. We experience her shame and self hatred, and truly see character growth. Getting to see Celaena embrace her past and magic was amazing. I cried, I screamed, I laughed – I don’t think there was a single emotion this book did not evoke.

I also really enjoyed the introduction of new characters. I adore Rowan and really loved getting to know him. I am very intrigued by Manon and I’m curious how she will play into the story. I am also excited to learn more about Aedion. I even loved all the secondary characters. I feel myself drowning to love Dorian as well, even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of him in the past books.

Such amazing development of the plot and characters. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this book!

“You cannot pick and choose what parts of her to love.”

Since I’m buddy reading this series with my husband, and had him write down some of his thoughts:

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

5/5 ⭐️

This book is by far one of the best in this series thus far. We get to see the main characters in their lowest of lows and their highest of highs. From the little wins that help them to keep going and losses that almost shatter them. Their experiences and emotions become yours the more you read.

The introduction of the new characters are on another level in this one and right away you become attached to them.

I claim you, Rowan Whitethorn. I don’t care what you say and how much you protest. I claim you as my friend.
