Book Summary
The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius as war looms on the horizon. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those who don’t.
With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side, and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, and dark forces become poised to claim her world, the only chance for salvation will lie in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.
In this breathtaking fifth installment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, Aelin will have to choose what—and who—to sacrifice if she’s to keep the world of Erilea from breaking apart.
“I see you. I see every part of you. And I am not afraid.”
Review/Thoughts:
Pain. This is the only way I can explain this book. It was an emotional rollercoaster, and I loved every second of it. This is the book where everything just falls together. I did not want to put this book down. This book is super action packed and fast paced.
Absolutely adore Elide and Manon. These are two characters I couldn’t get enough of. I would honestly read an entire book about either of them. I also really love all the cadre and I was so excited when they made an appearance. I also really loved getting to watch everyone’s relationships develop even more.
I also want to point out, this book is much more adult than the other books in the series. So if that’s something you don’t really enjoy, just be aware.
This book was fantastic and I loved every page!
I tandem read Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn. I followed along with this guide by T.L. Branson. (https://www.tlbranson.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Throne-of-Glass-Reading-Guide.pdf) Tandem reading was pretty tough, it seemed like every time I started to really get into the chapters I was on, I had to switch books. But, after I finished and finding out how Empire of Storms ends, I’m very glad I did it this way! I don’t think I would have liked having stop and read Tower of Dawn.
“And tell Rowan, that I’m sorry I lied. But tell him it was all borrowed time anyway. Even before today, I knew it was all just borrowed time, but I still wish we’d had more of it.”
“And tell him… tell him thank you – for walking that dark path back to the light.”
Since I’m buddy reading this series with my husband, and had him write down some of his thoughts:

Empire of Storms was packed with action and adventure with some slow paced spots to prepare you for more action. This is when all of our favorite characters begin to come together after their quests and begin the road to power. The mind games that are played and the battle scenes of this book are great and keep you wanting to read more.
Overall, this book is great and the storyline is amazing. With the adventures in new lands and battles among different forces mixed with the emotions of the story thus far makes this book great. The only bad part is having to tandem read with Tower of Dawn. The repeated back and forth of the fast paced of Empire of Storms and the slow pace of Tower of Dawn makes it a struggle and have to refocus when picking back up to read.
“So get yourself together and figure out what to do next.”
