“I love you. I wish I’d said it more. But I love you, Quinlan, and…” His throat closed up, his eyes stinging. His lips brushed her brow. “Our love is stronger than time, greater than any distance. Our love spans across stars and worlds. I will find you again. I promise.”

Book Summary:

Bryce Quinlan and Hunt Athalar are trying to get back to normal―they may have saved Crescent City, but with so much upheaval in their lives lately, they mostly want a chance to relax. Slow down. Figure out what the future holds.

The Asteri have kept their word so far, leaving Bryce and Hunt alone. But with the rebels chipping away at the Asteri’s power, the threat the rulers pose is growing. As Bryce, Hunt, and their friends get pulled into the rebels’ plans, the choice becomes clear: stay silent while others are oppressed, or fight for what’s right. And they’ve never been very good at staying silent.

In this sexy, action-packed sequel to the #1 bestseller House of Earth and Blood, Sarah J. Maas weaves a captivating story of a world about to explode―and the people who will do anything to save it.

(Summary from Goodreads)

“But wherever you’re headed when this life is over, Quinlan, that’s where I want to be, too.”

Review/Thoughts:

This book was a masterpiece. The plot, the pacing, the character and relationship development, it was all perfect.

The plot was complex and gripping. I felt it was paced really well and had me on the edge of my seat multiple times. There were also multiple twists I did not predict.

I love all the romance that finally develops between Bryce and Hunt – it was just so good! I also adore all the side characters in this book and the friendships that develop. Ruhn was my absolute favorite this book. I was very invested in his storyline and I loved watching his interactions with Agent Day. Sarah J. Maas just knows how to write characters that you connect with and can’t help but love.

I’m glad I waited until House of Flame and Shadow was almost out to start this one. I don’t think I could have read that ending without diving right into the next book.

“Ruhn Danaan knew three things with absolute certainty.”
