“And Hunt went, as he’d go anywhere, so long as it was with her.”
Book Summary:
Bryce Quinlan and Hunt Athalar are trying to get back to normal―they may have saved Crescent City, but with so much upheaval in their lives lately, they mostly want a chance to relax. Slow down. Figure out what the future holds.
The Asteri have kept their word so far, leaving Bryce and Hunt alone. But with the rebels chipping away at the Asteri’s power, the threat the rulers pose is growing. As Bryce, Hunt, and their friends get pulled into the rebels’ plans, the choice becomes clear: stay silent while others are oppressed, or fight for what’s right. And they’ve never been very good at staying silent.
In this sexy, action-packed sequel to the #1 bestseller House of Earth and Blood, Sarah J. Maas weaves a captivating story of a world about to explode―and the people who will do anything to save it.

“It’s my first mission with my girlfriend. I want to impress her.”
Review/Thoughts:
There were so many things I loved about this book, but also a few things that I wasn’t crazy about.
I loved the ACOTAR crossover. Any chance to read about some of my favorite characters? Sign me up! I liked the plot, the pacing, [most of] the characters, and the relationships. Lydia and Ruhn carried this book for me. I would kill to have a book solely about them!
I few things I wasn’t crazy about:
- Bryce’s character seemed like someone completely different, and she honestly irritated me most of the book.
- The book felt super info-dumpy. I felt like 50% of this book was setting up for the next ACOTAR book. Which I don’t mind, but I wish that information would have been presented better.
- I despised Tharion and Ithan’s characters. I didn’t think either of them had any positive character development and I honestly couldn’t care less about either of their storylines.
The conclusion of the series seems a bit weak and wrapped up too easily. But, overall still loved this book and this universe!
“Two angels… and a Fae Prince… walk into… a dungeon.”
