Book Summary:
A dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance.
Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again…
Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….
Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she’s ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.
(Summary from Goodreads)
“Mine. You smell like you’re mine, Misery.”
Review/Thoughts:
This was my first book in the Omegaverse and it was interesting, to say the least.
I didn’t think there was enough world building and the pacing of the plot was inconsistent. This lead me to not being able to I immerse myself into the world. I really didn’t care much about the Vampyre/Werewolf tension.
I felt like both Misery and Lowe were pretty bland. Due to their lack of interaction, I also had hard time connecting with the characters or the relationship right away. Ana was adorable and her character carried the book for me!
I eventually got invested, but it took me some time to push through and get to that point.
It was entertaining and fun, but also immature and cheesy. I will always enjoy Ali Hazelwood’s goofy and quirky writing style. I learned much more about the Omegaverse than I ever wanted to know. It’s safe to say this genre isn’t for me.
