Book Summary

It should have taken Juliette a single touch to kill Warner. But his mysterious immunity to her deadly power has left her shaken, wondering why her ultimate defense mechanism failed against the person she most needs protection from.

She and Adam were able to escape Warner’s clutches and join up with a group of rebels, many of whom have powers of their own. Juliette will finally be able to actively fight against The Reestablishment and try to fix her broken world. And perhaps these new allies can help her shed light on the secret behind Adam’s—and Warner’s—immunity to her killer skin.

Juliette’s world is packed with high-stakes action and tantalizing romance, perfect for fans of the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard and the Darkest Minds trilogy by Alexandra Bracken.
(Summary from Goodreads)

“Time goes on even when we do not.”

Review/Thoughts:

After the conclusion of book one, I was super excited to start this book and see what happens to our characters and where they go from here.

This book had some pacing issues that I wasn’t crazy about. It starts out pretty slow and the ending happened way too fast. But despite that, it was a still really enjoyable read.

I liked Juliette’s relationship with Warner, and I adored her interactions with Kenji. I could have lived without Adam, I really started to dislike him in this book. Their relationship drama got a bit ridiculous and juvenile at times and I just found it irritating to read (yes I know this is a Young Adult book, but it felt even more childish).

After how this book ended, I’m excited to continue the series!

About Me

Hi! I’m so excited to meet you! I was a huge reading in high school and college, but dropped off when adult life started. In 2022 I started struggling with anxiety and decided to pick up a book in a desperate attempt to find a way to calm it. I never looked back! Books have helped me through some of the toughest times in my life and I want to share that with others.
