Labor Day always feels like the natural flip into fall for me. There’s just something about this time of year that makes me want to curl up with a good book, a cozy blanket, and a romance that feels perfectly autumnal.

When I think of my favorite romances to read in the fall, I’m looking for a little bit of everything: cozy small towns, spooky settings, magical twists, mysterious characters, and, of course, plenty of romance. So, if you’re looking for your next fall read, here are a few of my favorites!

Business Casual by B.K. Borison
The Lovelight Farms series is one of my favorite seasonal reads, and Business Casual features one of my favorite couples in the series! It has all the small-town charm you could want, with a little secret relationship drama mixed in.

Tropes:
🍂 Secret Relationship
🍂 One Night Stand
🍂 Small Town
🍂 Opposites Attract

Falling Like Leaves by Misty Wilson
I’m usually not a huge YA romance reader, but this one was absolutely adorable and such a fun fall read! It has that cozy & nostalgic feeling that makes you want to grab a pumpkin spice latte and settle in for the season.

Tropes:
🍂 Young Adult
🍂 Second Chance
🍂 Small Town
🍂 Gilmore Girls Vibes

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig
If you’re looking for something a little darker and moodier, add One Dark Window to your October TBR. This gothic romantasy has a spooky atmosphere, a unique tarot card-inspired magic system and just the right amount of romance. Plus, there’s a sassy monster living inside the FMC’s head.

Tropes:
🍂 Gothic Romantasy
🍂 Unique Magic System
🍂 Monster in Head
🍂 Slow Burn

The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
Imagine walking into your apartment and suddenly being dropped seven years into the past. Oh and there’s a strange man already living in your apartment. 👀

The Seven Year Slip is such a unique romance with a little magical realism mixed in, and I absolutely loved it!

Tropes:
🍂 Magical Realism
🍂 Time Travel
🍂 Forced Proximity
🍂 Right Person, Wrong Time

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling
Looking for a fun, witchy twist on contemporary romance? Pick up The Ex Hex! It’s a lighthearted paranormal romance with small-town charm, second chances and a little magical revenge.

Tropes:

   🍂 Drunk Hexes
🍂 Paranormal Romance
🍂 Second Chance
🍂 Small Town

Phantasma by Kaylie Smith
A deadly competition inside a haunted house? How much more Halloween could you get? Phantasma is perfect if you want your fall reading to lean a little more dark & spooky. And if you love it… book two, Enchantra, is just as good!

Tropes:
🍂 Haunted House
🍂 Forbidden Romance
🍂 Deadly Competition
🍂 Forced Proximity

Soul Searching by Lyla Sage
A small town Western romance with a paranormal twist! The FMC can talk to ghosts and when she returns home she finds herself dealing with old memories, new romance and a few supernatural surprises.

Tropes:
🍂 Workplace Romance
🍂 Western Small Town
🍂 Opposites Attract

The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore
If fall romance had a book, this would be it. The Pumpkin Spice Café is the definition of a cozy autumn romance, complete with a small town, found family, and plenty of seasonal charm. It can be read as a standalone, but it’s also the first book in a series where each story takes place in the same small town!

Tropes:
🍂 Grumpy + Sunshine
🍂 Found Family
🍂 Small Town
🍂 First in a Series
